Clarissa Johal – New Cover Reveals

New Cover Reveals (or) Rising from the Ashes when a Publisher Closes its Doors
by Clarissa Johal
Between_Cover_from AmazonBeing a writer is a tough business. Some may think the writing, itself, is a struggle. I find that part of it quite easy. Others may think that finding a publisher is the hard part. I would have to agree with them. Sometimes, it feels like jumping through circus hoops. But once you get your foot in the door and you’ve “made it”, it may not occur to a new author that their publisher may go out of business. But they do. The business of publishing is very competitive. With the book market ever-changing, publishers come and go.
Musa Publishing closed its doors last week and the news came as a shock to me. They were the first publisher I worked with and it’s been a joy to grow with them. Once I wrapped my brain around the announcement, I had several options regarding the two books they had contracted. I could go through the process of finding another publisher and take the risk I may be in the same boat down the line. Or, I could publish both books myself. Both STRUCK and BETWEEN had received great reviews–all they needed was a new cover. I chose to re-release both titles myself and self-publish. It was a bit of a process, but both BETWEEN and STRUCK are now available on Amazon in ebooks and in print. Am I glad I chose this route? Time will tell, but my gut feeling is that I made the right decision.
I WILL rise from the ashes.
How far would you go to redeem yourself?

  2. You’re welcome, Clarissa. I’ll try to put some spaces in the thing at some point, when WordPress isn’t being so difficult.
