On the Threshold: a Fifty-word Story

Using a piece of chalk, the girl drew a door on the pavement.

She’d seen it in a cartoon. The door was a portal to another world. It made sense to a child.

She knocked on the stone. “Anyone there?”

A hand snaked out and dragged her down to Hell.
